How to Join

  • Be Above the Age of 18

The 501st Legion requires that members are above the age of 18 to join. This age restriction is in place for legal and liability reasons and to ensure that members can independently make decisions regarding their participation.

  • Select a Costume

Select the Imperial officer character you would like to portray. This could include characters such as Grand Moff Tarkin, Juno Eclipse, Grand Admiral Thrawn, or others from the Star Wars universe.

Here you’ll be able to find a list of all Imperial Officer Corps current costumes: Costume Reference Library.

  • Research and Build Your Costume

Study the Costume Reference Library (CRL) for your chosen character on the 501st Legion's official website. This guide will provide detailed instructions and standards for creating an accurate costume. Building a high-quality costume is crucial.

  • Join a Local Garrison

Locate and contact your nearest 501st Legion Garrison or Outpost. The 501st is organized into local units worldwide. Garrison members can offer guidance, support, and mentorship as you work on your costume. Here you will find a map or list of all the Garrisons and Outposts.

You can also join the Imperial Officer Corps forums to obtain further guidance.

  • Submit Your Costume for Approval

Once your costume is complete, submit it for review by your Garrison's Membership Liaison (GML) or Costume Reviewer. Prepare high resolution photos of you in your costume against a plain background, showing the front, back, both sides, and (if applicable) with helmet/mask on and off. They will assess whether your costume meets the 501st's costume standards.

You'll have to read the Code of Conduct first, and afterwards you'll fill in your information in this format

  • Approval and 501st Legion Membership

f your costume meets the standards, you will be approved as a member of the 501st Legion. You will receive a unique 501st ID and be able to participate in official 501st events and activities.

To remain an active member, you must maintain your costume's accuracy, participate in a minimum of one official troop per year, and complete the annual census as specified by the Operations Protocol.
